The BJP has alleged that a political rift between Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is playing out within the Congress over a controversy surrounding Raihan Vadra’s exhibition. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed on Friday that the controversy was being used to politically launch Raihan.

74 photographs reportedly flagged

The exhibition, titled “No Idea is Final,” featured photographs by Raihan Vadra. Raihan said Bikaner House management asked him to remove or replace 74 of his 105 photographs before the exhibition opened. He said only 35 frames remained when the exhibition began and that the collection represented three years of his work.

Raihan said he shared the exhibition layout with Bikaner House on October 15. The initial proposal was sent on June 10 and accepted on June 30. Bikaner House sent a notice on October 21 requesting the removal of 74 photographs.

Bikaner House cites venue policy

Bikaner House said the photographs were “found to be inconsistent” with the venue’s policy. The BJP claimed that the initial proposal referred to nature, wildlife, abstract artworks, portraits and sculptures, but did not mention “political content”. It alleged that the political photographs were added later.

BJP questions Rahul Gandhi’s silence

Bhandari alleged that Rahul Gandhi had not posted publicly in support of Raihan over the controversy. The BJP said Rahul Gandhi left for Vietnam on a personal visit the previous Sunday. Bhandari claimed that Rahul was posting from Vietnam on several issues but had not made a public post supporting Raihan. He described the situation as “Its Priyanka vs Rahul in Congress!”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had described the removal of the photographs as an attempt to “muzzle” the voice of the youth. Days earlier, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had jointly led protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged SIR irregularities. The BJP linked these developments to its allegation of a political conflict within the Gandhi family.
