A Bengaluru businessman, Anandraj, has been arrested after his 22-year-old employee, Kiran, died following an assault at Anandraj’s residence, police said. Police allege that Anandraj beat Kiran after finding him with his 19-year-old daughter inside a room. Kiran sustained multiple injuries, lost consciousness and was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital.

Family returned home after leaving in the morning

According to police, Anandraj and his wife told their daughter they would be away for the day before leaving home on Tuesday morning. They returned a few hours later and allegedly found Kiran with the daughter inside a room. Police said Anandraj sent his daughter to a relative’s house before the assault.

Kiran had worked at Anandraj’s manufacturing unit for the past few years. He was a native of Kerala’s Palakkad district. Preliminary investigations indicate that Anandraj had only recently learnt about the alleged relationship between Kiran and his daughter.

Hospital alerted police

Police allege that Kiran suffered multiple injuries during the assault and lost consciousness. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Hospital authorities alerted the police.

Anandraj was subsequently arrested. Police are examining the exact charges in the case and the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

Police examine possible premeditation

Investigators are examining whether the assault that led to Kiran’s death was premeditated. They are also investigating whether anyone else was present during the assault.

Kiran’s maternal cousin, Prasad, claimed that Kiran’s brother had been sent to Uttar Pradesh earlier in the week on a delivery assignment. Prasad alleged that this was done to ensure Kiran was alone and that no one could intervene. Police are investigating this claim along with other aspects of the case.
