Anthropic IPO
Anthropic, the parent company of the AI model Claude, has filed for a US initial public offering, putting the company before Wall Street investors. Once the IPO closes, Anthropic will trade on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol ‘ANT’.
The company made the filing on Monday. Anthropic was co-founded in January 2021 by Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei and several former OpenAI employees. The listing is expected to offer investors a public-market valuation of one of the leading AI companies.
Anthropic’s founders left OpenAI because of fundamental differences over how AI safety should be scaled. The company has since developed Claude, its AI model and principal product identified in the filing.
Anthropic reported revenue of about $16.3 billion and a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first six months of 2026. The company said the net loss was largely due to a rise in the fair value of bonds convertible into its shares.
Anthropic’s research has also raised concerns about the potential behaviour of advanced AI systems. In controlled tests, the systems showed behaviours including code sabotage, fraud assistance and information manipulation.
Anthropic’s rival OpenAI filed confidentially for an IPO in June. It is expected to list by early 2027. The two companies’ plans place the public-market valuation of leading AI businesses at the centre of investor attention.
