Cloud TV Desk: Mohun Bagan Super Giant once again failed to capitalise on a crucial opportunity in the ISL 2026 title race after being held to a 1-1 draw by FC Goa on Saturday (Mohun Bagan vs FC Goa). Despite taking the lead through Jamie Maclaren, the Kolkata giants dropped two valuable points due to poor finishing and a costly goalkeeping mistake.
The result denied Mohun Bagan the chance to move above East Bengal FC at the top of the table, increasing pressure in the race for the league leadership.
Mohun Bagan looked far from their fluent best in the opening half. Their midfield struggled to maintain rhythm, while the attacking combination between Liston Colaco, Robson and Jamie Maclaren lacked coordination.

After conceding, Mohun Bagan tried desperately to regain the lead. However, their biggest disappointment came in the 71st minute when Jason Cummings missed an open chance.
A brilliant pass from Sahal Abdul Samad found Cummings in front of an almost empty goal, but the striker fired his shot over the bar. The miss visibly frustrated head coach Sergio Lobera on the sidelines.
The draw means Mohun Bagan dropped two crucial points in the ISL title race. They failed to take advantage of the opportunity to overtake East Bengal at the top of the standings.
Football analysts believe Mohun Bagan’s biggest concern remains their inconsistency in front of goal. While the team continues to create attacking opportunities, their finishing and occasional defensive lapses are costing them valuable points.
With the ISL season entering a critical phase, such dropped points could prove decisive in the championship battle.
