Cloud TV Sports Desk: East Bengal FC have moved quickly to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season, securing the services of three key players. The Red-and-Gold Brigade have extended the contract of Palestinian international Mohammed Rashid while also signing Spanish midfielder Dani Ramirez and Indian full-back Boris Singh.
The club acted decisively following the departure of Miguel Figueira, ensuring stability in midfield by retaining Rashid and bringing in Ramirez as a creative reinforcement.
Rashid’s previous contract expired on May 31, but East Bengal have now secured the midfielder on a renewed one-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2027. The 30-year-old was one of East Bengal’s most influential performers last season, featuring in 21 matches across all competitions.
The Palestinian international played a crucial role in the club’s success and etched his name into East Bengal folklore by scoring the winning goal against Inter Kashi. That strike helped the club secure its first major men’s top-tier trophy in 22 years, making him a fan favourite.
Meanwhile, Dani Ramirez arrives in Kolkata after an impressive spell with Punjab FC. The Spanish playmaker enjoyed one of his best seasons in Indian football, scoring five goals and providing three assists. His performances helped Punjab reach the semi-finals of the AIFF Super Cup and remain in contention for the ISL title until the closing stages of the campaign.
Ramirez is expected to operate in the No. 10 role alongside Rashid in midfield. His creativity, vision, and ability to unlock opposition defences could provide East Bengal with an added attacking dimension.
East Bengal have also completed the signing of Boris Singh from FC Goa on a multi-year contract. The versatile full-back is known for his pace, defensive discipline, and ability to contribute in attack from wide areas. His arrival is expected to strengthen the team’s options on the flanks.
The club continues discussions regarding the head coach position, with Oscar Bruzon still among the leading candidates to remain in charge. East Bengal are planning to begin their pre-season preparations later this month.
The Kolkata giants face a demanding schedule in the coming months. Their domestic campaign begins with the Durand Cup on July 25, followed by an AFC Champions League Two preliminary-round fixture on August 12. East Bengal will then begin their ISL title challenge in September.
With Rashid retained and new additions arriving, the club appears determined to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts during the 2026-27 season.
