India’s senior men’s football team is set for a remarkable international window in September and October 2026, with the Blue Tigers scheduled to face three teams that featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
India will take on Panama on September 26 in Bengaluru, before facing five-time world champions Brazil in Kolkata on October 3. Just three days later, India will meet two-time world champions Uruguay at the same venue.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially confirmed the fixtures against Panama and Uruguay, adding to the already confirmed blockbuster encounter against Brazil.
India’s first major challenge of the international window will come against Panama on September 26 at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
Panama featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and are currently ranked 44th in the FIFA World Ranking. The match will therefore give India an important opportunity to test themselves against a World Cup-playing side exactly one week before the much-anticipated Brazil clash.
AIFF Deputy Secretary General M Satyanarayan has described the Panama fixture as a tough test ahead of the Brazil game, stressing the importance of giving India’s players exposure against high-quality international opposition.
One week after the Panama game, India will face one of the biggest challenges in the history of Indian football.
Brazil’s senior men’s national team will play India at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on October 3. The fixture has been officially confirmed by both AIFF and the Brazilian Football Confederation.
It will be Brazil’s first-ever match on Indian soil and will see the Blue Tigers take on the five-time world champions in front of a Kolkata crowd.
India’s international window will get even tougher three days later.
On October 6, India will face two-time FIFA World Cup champions Uruguay at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. AIFF has officially confirmed the fixture, making it the third high-profile friendly for India during the window.
India will therefore face three World Cup-playing nations in quick succession: Panama on September 26, Brazil on October 3 and Uruguay on October 6.
The demanding schedule will provide India’s players with valuable exposure against some of the strongest opposition in international football. Competitive results against these teams could also help India improve their FIFA ranking.
The Blue Tigers will then travel to New Zealand in November for two more international fixtures. The 2026 calendar is consequently shaping up as one of the most challenging and high-profile periods in recent Indian men’s football history.
