Cloud TV Sports Desk: Argentina launched their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion with a 3-0 victory over Algeria, and it was Lionel Messi who stole the spotlight once again. The Argentine captain scored all three goals to register a stunning hat-trick and received a perfect 10/10 rating (Argentina Player Ratings vs Algeria) for his performance.

According to player ratings published by football outlet Goal, Messi was the standout performer on the pitch as the reigning world champions secured all three points in their Group J opener.

Lionel Messi received a perfect 10/10 after scoring a hat-trick

The 38-year-old forward delivered a masterclass throughout the match. Messi recorded 57 touches, completed 30 passes, created two major chances and fired six shots, four of which were on target. His three goals proved decisive and earned him the highest rating of the match.

Rodrigo De Paul and Lisandro Martinez earned 8/10 ratings.

Midfielder Rodrigo De Paul was one of Argentina’s most influential players behind Messi. The energetic playmaker completed 92 percent of his passes and provided the assist for Messi’s opening goal. His commanding display in midfield earned him an impressive 8/10 rating.

Defender Lisandro Martinez also received an 8/10 after a solid defensive performance. He registered four clearances, two successful tackles and an interception while helping Argentina keep Algeria’s attack under control.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was rarely troubled during the match but remained composed whenever called upon. His distribution and decision-making contributed to Argentina’s dominance, earning him a rating of 7/10.

Several other Argentine stars also received 7/10 ratings. Cristian Romero delivered another reliable performance in central defense, while Facundo Medina played a key role in restricting Algeria’s forwards. Enzo Fernandez controlled possession effectively in midfield, and Gonzalo Montiel contributed strongly before being substituted at halftime as part of a tactical plan.

Alexis Mac Allister also impressed with his work rate on both ends of the field. The midfielder completed 94 percent of his passes while contributing defensively with tackles, recoveries and clearances.

Thiago Almada received the lowest rating among Argentina’s starters

The only Argentine starter to receive a lower score was Thiago Almada. While he attempted to provide attacking width and pace, he struggled to make a significant impact and was rated 6/10.

Overall, Argentina delivered a balanced team performance. Their defensive organization, midfield control and attacking efficiency highlighted why they remain one of the favorites to retain the World Cup title.
