The political controversy over remarks concerning Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has intensified in West Bengal after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari directed the police to take strict action against offensive or allegedly false social media posts concerning the freedom fighter.
Speaking at a press conference at Nabanna on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said people posting insulting or defamatory content about Netaji should face action under the law.
The directive has immediately brought BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ananta Maharaj back into the political spotlight. His recent remarks concerning Netaji and the Indian National Army have triggered controversy, with complaints reportedly filed against him.
