Vijay first orders
Cloud TV Desk: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay wasted no time in unveiling his government’s priorities after taking oath on Sunday. Within hours of assuming office, the TVK leader announced a series of major welfare and law-and-order measures (Vijay first orders) , including 200 units of free electricity for households, a dedicated Women Protection Force and a special anti-drug task force. The announcements came during Vijay’s first official orders after being sworn in at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
The decisions are being viewed as a strong political signal about the direction of the newly formed TVK government in Tamil Nadu. In his first major decision as Chief Minister, Vijay announced that domestic consumers in Tamil Nadu would receive up to 200 units of electricity free every month.
The new Chief Minister also ordered the formation of a special anti-drug task force to crack down on narcotics networks and drug trafficking across the state. Alongside this, Vijay announced the creation of a dedicated Women Protection Force along with a special helpline aimed at strengthening women’s safety and emergency response systems.
He further stated that his government would focus strongly on education, healthcare, drinking water, farmers and fishermen welfare. During his address after the oath-taking ceremony, Vijay made it clear that there would be “only one power centre” in his administration.
“I alone will be the power centre,” the new Chief Minister declared, in what analysts see as a message aimed at maintaining administrative clarity despite running a coalition-backed government. He also described the beginning of his government as “a new era of true secularism and social justice.”
Vijay began his speech with his famous dialogue “En Nenjil Kudiyirukkum,” meaning “Those who live in my heart.” The phrase has long been associated with both his film career and political rallies. He also thanked children specifically, saying many of them had influenced their families to vote for TVK during the election campaign.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) was formed only two years ago, yet the party emerged as the single largest force in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election by winning 108 seats. Later, support from Congress, Left parties, VCK and IUML helped Vijay cross the majority mark needed to form the government.
Political analysts are describing the development as one of the most dramatic shifts in Tamil Nadu politics after decades of dominance by DMK and AIADMK. Experts believe Vijay’s first-day decisions clearly indicate that the TVK government intends to follow a welfare-oriented governance model.
The free electricity scheme is already drawing comparisons with Karnataka’s Gruha Jyoti programme. At the same time, the focus on women’s safety and anti-drug measures suggests that law-and-order issues will remain central to the new administration’s political messaging. The next challenge for Vijay will be converting electoral promises into sustainable governance and administrative delivery.
