CJP Protesters Return to Jantar Mantar, Vow to Continue Agitation Amid Heavy Security

Cloud TV Desk: Supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) returned to New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Tuesday, a day after violent clashes with police during a march towards Parliament. Despite the confrontation, the organization has declared that its protest will continue indefinitely.

CJP protesters regrouped at Jantar Mantar after Monday’s clashes

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered at the designated protest site under tight security. The Delhi Police, along with personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF), have been deployed in large numbers to prevent any escalation and maintain law and order.

The unrest began during Monday’s “Sansad Chalo” (March to Parliament) campaign, when thousands of protesters attempted to move towards Parliament. The demonstration turned violent after clashes broke out between protesters and security personnel, leaving several people injured.

Protest leaders say the agitation will continue, although the Parliament march has been temporarily suspended

Speaking to supporters on Tuesday, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke said the movement would not be called off despite the violence. However, he announced that the group would temporarily refrain from marching towards Parliament in order to avoid further injuries, instead continuing with a peaceful sit-in at Jantar Mantar.

According to the organization, more than a hundred protesters were injured during the previous day’s confrontation, with several reportedly receiving medical treatment. CJP has accused the police of using excessive force during the crackdown.

Delhi Police, on the other hand, stated that several police personnel were also injured in the violence. Authorities have registered cases related to the incident and said additional security measures have been put in place to prevent any further disturbances.

The CJP has been demanding reforms in the education system and accountability over recent examination paper leak controversies. The group has also called for the resignation of the Union Education Minister, alleging administrative failures.

The renewed protest has once again brought Jantar Mantar, India’s traditional venue for public demonstrations, into the national spotlight. With both protesters and authorities standing firm, the situation in the capital remains under close watch.
