Cloud TV Desk: Suneil Anand, actor, filmmaker and the only son of legendary Bollywood icon Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik, has passed away at the age of 70 in the United Kingdom. According to a statement issued by his family, Suneil suffered a heart attack while travelling from the United States to India via London. His niece, Gina Narang, confirmed the news and requested privacy for the grieving family.
Family members said Suneil Anand was in transit through London when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Despite medical attention, he could not be revived. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the Indian film fraternity and among admirers of the Anand family. Tributes have begun pouring in from across the entertainment industry.
Suneil Anand made his acting debut in 1984 with “Anand Aur Anand,” a film directed and produced by his father Dev Anand. The film also featured Raakhee, Smita Patil and Raj Babbar. He later appeared in films including Main Tere Liye, Master and Car Thief. Although he never matched the iconic status of his father, Suneil remained closely associated with Indian cinema and eventually took charge of Navketan Films, the production house founded by the Anand family.
Following the death of Dev Anand in 2011, Suneil Anand continued preserving his father’s cinematic legacy through Navketan Films. He also worked on film production and development projects in later years. His passing marks another emotional chapter for one of Bollywood’s most celebrated film families.
