West Bengal IPS reshuffle
Cloud TV Desk: The West Bengal government has announced another major reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring several senior IPS officers to key positions. Among the significant changes, IPS officer Supratim Sarkar has been removed from the post of Additional Director General (ADG), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as part of the latest administrative overhaul.
According to the state government’s notification, multiple senior police officers have been reassigned ahead of crucial administrative and law enforcement responsibilities. The reshuffle affects several important departments, including the CID, Intelligence Branch, and district police units.
Supratim Sarkar, who was serving as ADG CID, has been shifted from the post. The move comes months after he served as Kolkata Police Commissioner before being reassigned following Election Commission directives during the Assembly election period.
The latest transfer order includes changes across several senior ranks of the West Bengal Police. The government has appointed new officers to head the CID and other strategic wings to strengthen administrative functioning.
Officials said the reshuffle is part of a routine administrative exercise aimed at improving operational efficiency across the police force.
The transfers come at a time when the state administration is focusing on strengthening law enforcement and internal security. Senior IPS officers have been assigned to departments handling criminal investigations, intelligence gathering, and district policing.
No official reason has been cited for the transfers beyond administrative requirements. The Home and Hill Affairs Department stated that the changes take effect immediately.
