An 11-year-old student lost his life, while four other children sustained injuries. According to officials, the accident took place around 2:50 pm on Road No. 11 in Chembur. The school bus, belonging to Universal High School, was transporting students home when a massive peepal tree suddenly uprooted and crashed onto the vehicle. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the bus and trapped several children inside. Local residents rushed to help before teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, and disaster response authorities arrived to begin rescue operations.
The injured students were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Doctors confirmed that one 11-year-old student succumbed to critical injuries despite emergency medical efforts. Four other students suffered injuries and are currently receiving treatment. Their condition has been reported as stable. Authorities are continuing to monitor the injured children.
