Passengers travelling from Delhi to Dubai on a SpiceJet flight were left frustrated after their departure was delayed (SpiceJet Delhi Dubai flight delay) by more than 24 hours.

The prolonged delay triggered protests at Delhi airport, with passengers reportedly expressing anger over the lack of clarity about when the flight would finally depart.

Passengers Left Frustrated After Long Wait

Travellers complained about having to remain at the airport for an extended period while waiting for information about the status of their flight.

The situation led to a visible protest by passengers, who sought clearer communication and immediate assistance from the airline.

Recent flight-tracking data also shows repeated delays on SpiceJet’s Delhi-Dubai service in the days leading up to the incident.

Repeated Delays on Delhi-Dubai Route

SpiceJet flight SG5111 is normally scheduled to depart Delhi at 8:30 am and reach Dubai at 11:15 am local time.

However, the flight has experienced significant delays on several recent days. On September 12, the flight departed around 10 hours and 45 minutes behind schedule.

The September 14 service also recorded a substantial delay. Flight-tracking data showed a delay of around 15 hours and 35 minutes, while another live tracking service reported the flight as roughly 26 hours and 30 minutes late.

The repeated delays have raised concerns among passengers about the reliability of the service and the airline’s communication during disruptions.

The Delhi-Dubai route is a significant international connection, making timely operations particularly important for passengers travelling for business, tourism and onward connections.

What Passengers Are Entitled to During Long Delays

SpiceJet’s published Passenger Rights policy outlines certain facilities for passengers affected by prolonged delays.

According to the airline’s policy, passengers who have checked in on time are entitled to refreshments depending on the duration of the delay. For delays exceeding four hours, meals are to be provided.

The airline also states that if the expected departure time is delayed by more than 24 hours from the original scheduled departure time, hotel accommodation should be provided where necessary.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable rules, passengers may also be entitled to alternatives such as an alternate flight or a refund.

Delhi Airport advises passengers to check their flight status directly with the airline before travelling to the airport because schedules can change at short notice.

The latest incident has once again put the spotlight on airline operational reliability and passenger communication. For travellers facing lengthy delays, timely information and appropriate assistance remain critical.
