Kalighat Trinamool Kolkata march
Kalighat Trinamool has called a march in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon to demand Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and protest allegations of electoral manipulation using the SIR. The proposed route is from Rajabazar to Park Circus, but the programme is dependent on police permission.
A campaign leaflet released by Kalighat Trinamool accuses the Centre of suppressing the voice of democracy. It also alleges that Mamata Banerjee was detained in Delhi and that the younger generation was subjected to oppression. The leaflet uses the slogans ‘Remove Gyanesh Kumar’ and ‘Vote theft’ for the march.
The leaflet mentions that Mamata Banerjee may take part in the march. Her participation has not been confirmed. According to the report, the message about the programme has also been sent to districts.
The march is proposed during the puja period, raising uncertainty over permission and the possible impact on traffic movement. It is not clear what steps Kalighat Trinamool will take if permission is not granted.
On Monday, the ‘Indi’ bloc carried out a march to the Supreme Court in Delhi in connection with the SIR. The programme was centred on the demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and allegations of electoral manipulation using the SIR.
