Iran mocks Trump with Telugu movie clip
The confrontation between the United States and Iran is playing out not only through diplomatic statements but also on social media.
Iran has now taken an unusual cinematic route to respond to US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks about the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe shared a 58-second action clip from a Telugu film featuring actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. The video was posted as a sarcastic response to Trump’s comments about Iran.
On September 23, the Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe shared the video on X.
The clip comes from the 2023 Telugu-language action film Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. It shows Balakrishna’s character facing a group of armed men in an intense action sequence.
Alongside the video, the embassy wrote that Trump talks about annihilating Iran but knows that Iran is not defenseless.
The post then added a sarcastic reference to American cinema, saying that Trump and his administration had recently been watching Bollywood instead of Hollywood.
The post was clearly framed as a social-media response to Trump’s remarks rather than a formal diplomatic statement.
There was an obvious factual mix-up in the Iranian embassy’s post.
The clip is not from a Bollywood film. It comes from Bhagavanth Kesari, a Telugu-language action drama starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Anil Ravipudi.
The 58-second sequence shows Balakrishna’s character confronting armed opponents while using improvised protection and weapons during the action sequence.
By using the scene, the Iranian embassy appeared to draw a comparison between the character’s resistance on screen and Iran’s message that it is not defenseless.
The unexpected reference also brought Indian regional cinema into an ongoing geopolitical exchange between Washington and Tehran.
The Iranian post came after Trump’s remarks at the United Nations General Assembly.
Trump said he faced a major decision regarding Iran. He described the choice as either reaching a deal that would allow Iran to rebuild or moving to “annihilate” the Islamic Republic quickly.
Iran responded to the rhetoric with the film clip, turning a serious geopolitical confrontation into a social-media exchange involving popular cinema.
At the same time, diplomatic contacts between the two sides have also been reported. According to reports, indirect talks took place with Qatari mediation, while US and Iranian representatives also held discussions in New York.
The combination of public threats, social-media messaging and diplomatic contacts highlights the complicated nature of the current US-Iran confrontation.
For now, however, the most unusual element of the exchange remains the Iranian Embassy’s choice of a Telugu action movie to deliver its message to the US president.
