IndiGo Delhi Chennai flight diverted Hyderabad
IndiGo flight 6E 6115 from Delhi to Chennai was diverted to Hyderabad on Sunday, October 11, 2026, after smoke was detected from a passenger’s personal electronic device onboard. The aircraft landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad.
The pilots diverted the aircraft in line with established safety protocols after the smoke was detected. IndiGo said the safety of passengers and crew remained its top priority.
The cabin crew responded promptly and brought the situation under control before the aircraft landed in Hyderabad.
IndiGo did not identify the device involved or confirm the exact cause of the smoke. Preliminary information indicated that a power bank may have caught fire, but the airline did not confirm this.
An unnamed passenger described the incident, while the airline’s statement referred to smoke from a personal electronic device.
After the safe landing in Hyderabad, IndiGo arranged an alternate aircraft for passengers to continue their journey to Chennai. The airline also offered refreshments and said it was sharing timely updates with passengers.
A spokesperson said, “The cabin crew responded promptly and the situation was brought under control.” The spokesperson added, “We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers due to this unforeseen situation and are making all efforts to minimise it, including offering refreshments and sharing timely updates.”
At the time of the report, passengers’ onward journey to Chennai was pending. IndiGo’s alternate-aircraft arrangement was intended to allow them to continue to their destination.
