Delhi Cockroach movement protests
State minister Dilip Ghosh on Monday commented on the protests in Delhi linked to the ‘Cockroach movement’ and alleged foreign backing behind them. Protesters are demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. Sources have referred to repeated disturbances in Delhi over the past few months in connection with the movement.
The protesters are seeking Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, according to the facts cited. Sources said the movement initially began as a protest against the NEET paper leak and later expanded to include the resignation demand and other issues. It has also been claimed that several CJP leaders, including Abhijit Deep, Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das, were arrested before a sit-in at Jantar Mantar.
Ghosh alleged that foreign backing was involved in attempts to create unrest in India. He said those involved were afraid because the route for foreign funding had been closed. His remarks included the statements, “There is foreign power” and “Support is being given from abroad.” He also said, “The route for funding has been closed. That is why they are even more afraid.”
Sources said allegations of direct support from Bangladesh emerged after Nahid Islam backed the movement. It was also stated that Nahid Islam had made several posts supporting Indian students, particularly the ‘Cockroach’ protesters. Sources further claimed that about two years ago he had been involved in a conspiracy to remove Bangladesh’s then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power.
According to the cited information, influencer Dhruv Rathee was arrested from his residence. The arrest of several leaders before the Jantar Mantar sit-in was also claimed. Ghosh’s comments have brought the allegations of foreign support, funding and Bangladesh’s reported connection with the movement into focus.
